Documentation
Install
Install a published desktop build, or tell a source checkout apart from that installer.
Published installers
The download page lists stable desktop installers from the GitHub releases of nikomatt69/cadcamfun. Each version is split across one index release, tagged v{version}, and six platform releases tagged v{version}-{slug}.
The index release carries latest.json for the in-app updater. The platform releases carry the files a person downloads. Asset names are prefixed with the Rust target triple, for example aarch64-apple-darwin--.
A release tag is not proof that every installer exists
The download page shows only assets that are actually attached to a stable platform release. A missing card means that platform was not published for the selected version.
Six desktop targets
| Slug | Machine | Installer |
|---|---|---|
macos-arm64 | macOS Apple Silicon | .dmg |
macos-x64 | macOS Intel | .dmg |
windows-x64 | Windows x64 | .msi and an NSIS -setup.exe |
windows-arm64 | Windows ARM64 | .msi and an NSIS -setup.exe |
linux-x64 | Linux x64 | .deb and .rpm |
linux-arm64 | Linux ARM64 | .deb and .rpm |
Linux jobs do not publish an AppImage. Updater archives (.app.tar.gz on macOS, the unsigned-for-humans Windows .exe used by the updater, and .sig files) are not offered as installers.
Checksums
Each platform release includes SHA256SUMS. Compare it with the file you downloaded before you treat the installer as the one the release built. The download page links that checksum file next to the installers for the same platform.
In-app updates
An installed macOS or Windows app checks https://github.com/nikomatt69/cadcamfun/releases/latest/download/latest.json. That manifest has four platform keys: darwin-aarch64, darwin-x86_64, windows-aarch64, and windows-x86_64. Linux installs are replaced by installing a newer .deb or .rpm; they are not in latest.json.
The desktop still asks before it restarts into an update, and it will not install over unsaved work. Details of the check interval and the signing key are in Builds and releases.
Homebrew
On macOS, when the cask has been published for that release:
brew install --cask nikomatt69/tap/cadcamfun The cask is a macOS install path. It does not install the Windows or Linux packages.
Source checkout
bun install and bun run desktop:dev build the desktop from this repository. They do not download a release installer. Use them when you are changing the app. Use the download page when you want the published build.
The quickstart is the source path: toolchain, database location, and the first window.
Companion
There is no iOS App Store or TestFlight build, and no Android store package. The phone app is built from apps/mobile and paired with a desktop that is already running. Follow companion pairing.
